St. Mary Community Action Agency will host the graduation of yet another “Homebuyer’s Class” this evening.

The graduation ceremony begins at 6 p.m. at St. Mary CAA’s central office building on Barrow Street in the Peter Pan Gymnasium.

“It is always a good feeling to be able share information and see growth in individuals who aspire to do bigger and better things,” said housing director Jeff Beverly.

The graduates successfully completed a five-week course which gave them a broader view of what it really means to be an educated homebuyer. There were guest speakers and workshops held to make sure all resources were utilized.

Throughout the course, information was shared about the types of mortgage loans, how to budget, how to save, understanding a credit report and how to shop for the right house.

The purpose of the course is to give the client an in-depth review of what comes with the responsibilities of being a homeowner. The homebuyer’s course is a solid prerequisite for those who have a firm strategic plan about how and when they will make that initial bid on a property. This knowledge will allow the homebuyers to get a solid foundation before purchasing their first home.
