An impaired driver checkpoint will be conducted Friday within the city limits of Patterson.

All drivers traveling through the checkpoint between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. will be screened for alcohol and drug impairment, and any who are impaired will be removed from the roadway, Chief Patrick LaSalle said.

The purpose of the checkpoint is to reduce the number of deadly crashes and those causing serious injuries, to keep impaired drivers off roadways and to inform the public of the dangers of driving while impaired, the chief added.
