The gala was the culmination of the season with debutantes and a beau participating in community service projects in their various communities, attending a self-awareness clinic, showcasing talents and fashions, and enjoying an informal tea along with family and friends.
Theme of this year’s event was “A Pink and Green Fantasy” exemplified in stage decorations and backdrops.
Adorned in white ball gowns, each debutante was presented by her father, and the beau was presented by his mother. The initial introduction was followed by the cotillion waltz performed by the debutantes and beau, and their escorts.
Crowned Miss Deb 2012 was Kiera LaTrale Bashay of Houston. First runner-up was Tlajahawaun Thibodeaux of New Iberia and second runner-up was Peggy Ann Thomas of Jeanerette.
Angelo DeVontra Eave of Franklin was crowned Mr. Beau 2012. Angelo's escort for the evening was Audriana DeNasha Watson, daughter of Violet Watson and the late Calvin Watson Jr.of Franklin.
Bashay is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Bashay of Houston. She attends Worthing High School and upon graduating, plans to attend Texas Southern University to major in Pharmacy. Her escort was Kevin Phillip Bradley II.
Thibodeaux is the daughter of Tanya Hill and Robert Thibodeaux of Lafayette. She is a student at Westgate High School in New Iberia and plans to be a nurse practitioner. Her escort was Deandre Knatt.
Thomas is the daughter of Pamela Thomas of Jeanerette. The Jeanerette High School senior plans to attend college. Her escort was Emmanuel Butts Jr.
Eave is the son of the Rev. Gary and Cathy Eave of Franklin. The Franklin High School senior plans to earn an undergraduate degree and pursue a master’s degree in Sports Medicine. His secondary goal is to become a professional athlete.
These young people hold memberships in many organizations and have received recognition for many achievements and accomplishments at school and in their respective communities.
