Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Rutledge and partner Angela Serio of Baton Rouge; her daughter-in-law, Leslie Rutledge of Morgan City; two grandchildren, Meghan Irene Rutledge and Mason John Rutledge of Morgan City; and one great-grandson, Cayden Thomassie. She also is survived by her sister, Mary Winterton of Kanata, Canada; one brother, George Rose of Perth, Australia; and numerous nieces and nephews. A very special niece and nephew, Lorraine Winterton and Stephen Winterton, both of Kanata, Canada, also survive her.
Ms. Rutledge was a veteran of the Women’s Royal Army Corp and a retired registered nurse. She loved her nursing career and felt both privileged and humbled to take care of the sick. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick James and Mary Ann Breeze Rose; her son, John L. Rutledge Jr.; former husband and friend, John L. Rutledge Sr.; two brothers, Frederick J. Rose Jr. and John Rose; and four sisters, Lily Whymark, June Candler, Jennifer Bowman and Alice Martell.
Irene’s wishes were to be cremated and then taken back to England to be laid to rest in the family cemetery.
