A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson for Mr. Jake P. Lipari, 90, a native of Franklin and lifelong resident of Patterson, who passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011, at 6:01 p.m., at Teche Regional Medical Center. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Fr. Michael Russo will officiate the services.

Mr. Jake was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during WWII. After the war, he returned to Patterson and joined his father and three older brothers on the family sugarcane farm, Lipari Brothers, of which he retired in 1983 when they closed the farm. He went on to work for 24 years as grounds maintenance at the Patterson State Bank. He was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Patterson Council #1710.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Genevieve Dragna Lipari of Patterson; five sons, Peter J. Lipari and his wife, Rose Ann, of Patterson; Andrew J. Lipari and his wife, Becki, of Conroe, Texas; Jake Lipari Jr. and his wife, Paulette, of Houma; Chris F. Lipari and his wife, Cheryl, of Patterson; and Joe M. Lipari and his wife, Sue, of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Lia K. Lipari of Patterson, Jacob V. Lipari of Patterson, Jason J. Lipari of San Diego, California, Jamie Schultze of Spring, Texas, Jacob G. Lipari III of New Orleans, Nicholas G. Lipari of Lafayette, Ryan V. Lipari of Patterson, Damon G. Lipari of Denham Springs, Katie A. Lipari of Houston, Texas and Mark J. Lipari of Rock Springs, Wyoming; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pietro Lipari and Leonarda Piranio Lipari; four brothers, his twin, Joseph Lipari (infant), Leo P. Lipari, Luke P. Lipari and Mike P. Lipari; and seven sisters, Josephine Lipari, Rosie Lipari, Frances Lipari Carlino, Lucy P. Lipari, Carrie P. Lipari, Rosie P. Lipari and Mary Lipari Abate.

A gather of family and friends will be held Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, from 7 a.m. until Mass time, with the rosary being prayed at 10 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Jacob V. Lipari, Jason J. Lipari, Nicholas G. Lipari, Ryan V. Lipari, Damon G. Lipari and Mark J. Lipari. Honorary pallbearers will be Gus Lipari, Luke Lipari, Louis Lipari, Lenny Lipari, L.P. Lipari, V.J. Abate, Peter M. Lipari, Gerard Lipari, Joseph L. Carlino, Lucas M. Carlino, Jeff Schultz, Frankie Lipari and Ronnie Lipari.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1011 First St., P.O. Box 219, Patterson, LA 70392.
