A private memorial service to celebrate the life of Jeffrey Wayne Nelson was held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at 2 p.m. The service was held at Bethel Pentecostal Fellowship in Patterson.

Jeffrey was born on Jan. 16, 1963, and is believed to have drowned in the Atchafalaya River on the night of Sept. 10, 2009.

Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Lee and Ellen Nelson of Berwick; a brother, Chad Nelson and his wife Alysia of Patterson; his sisters, Frances Chaisson and husband Timmy of Covington, Janet Goulas and husband Gary of Youngsville, and Kathy Robertson and husband Matt of Palm Beach, Fla.; nieces, Tracy Greenwood, Megan Chaisson, Heather Robertson, Bailey Nelson, Kendall Nelson and Morgan Goulas; nephews, Matthew Robertson, Connor Nelson and Nelson Goulas; and a great-niece, Hailey Fontenot.
