John was born on March 6, 1956, the son of the late Allen and Vermeil Ritchie.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Swiber Ritchie; one brother, Sonny Deffes and wife April of Livingston Parish; mother-in-law, Marie Mae Swiber; brothers-in-law, Henry Swiber Jr. and wife Dianne, Mike Swiber and wife Paula and Dennis Swiber, all of Morgan City; sisters-in-law, Pat Autrey and husband Ray, Marie Fromenthal and husband Rodney, all of Morgan City, Barbara Strader and husband Tom of Berlin, N.J., and Carlene Swiber of Bayou Vista; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Henry Swiber Sr.; and brother-in-law, David Swiber.
A graveside service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, 5200 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at 10 a.m.
