MORGAN CITY, La. -- The St. Mary Chamber of Commerce and Franklin Republican Women will co-host “Meet the Candidates Breakfast” for the upcoming Appellate Judge Position for 1st Circuit Court of Appeal District that covers Lafourche, Terrebonne, Assumption, St. Mary and 12 other parishes.

Candidates J. Christopher Erny, Mark D. Plaisance, Mitch Theriot and Honorable William C. Dupont have been invited to participate, stated a news release from the chamber.

The forum will be held at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Holiday Inn in Morgan City. Pastry and coffee will be served at 8 a.m. and continue until 9:30 a.m. There is no fee for admission.

“This forum helps us to learn about the candidates and their qualifications for this important appellate judge position,” stated Donna Meyer, chamber president.

“This is an opportunity for residents to meet the candidates for this judgeship position.” An appellate judge reviews oral and written statements from lower-court proceedings and decides whether to uphold or overturn decisions.

The election is Nov. 6. A runoff, if necessary, is scheduled Dec. 8.

Reservations can be emailed to info@stmarychamber.com or by faxing 985-384-0771. Deadline to register is 24 hours before each event. For more information, contact St. Mary Chamber at 985-384-3830 or 337-828-5608.
