A juvenile male, 16, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:01 a.m. Sunday for simple burglary of a vehicle, simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, illegal carrying of a weapon, resisting an officer, battery of a police officer, and five counts of threatening a public official. A deputy responded to a complaint from an elderly female victim stating that someone was inside her Sun Road residence.
Upon arrival, the deputy made his way around the home, located a door that had been opened, and entered the residence. The deputy then made his way into the garage where he observed the subject’s arm protruding from beneath a vehicle. The subject was identified as the juvenile male. The juvenile was found to be in possession of a paint scraping tool. The elderly female victim was located and was unharmed during the break in.
During the investigation and arrest, the juvenile repeatedly threatened deputies and also made threats against the elderly victim. The juvenile attempted to kick out the window of a patrol unit and kicked a deputy in the arm and chest area. The juvenile was taken to the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center pending juvenile court proceedings. Based on information gathered in this investigation deputies linked the juvenile to another burglary in the area. Additional charges are pending.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Jordan R. Gant, 23, of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:08 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight at the Plantation Inn. During the investigation, the deputy made contact with Gant and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Gant was also found to be in possession of marijuana, the report stated. Gant was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Caston Malveaux, 56, of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:14 p.m. Friday for failure to stop at a stop sign and possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed a vehicle make an incomplete stop at a stop sign at the intersection of James Street and La. 182. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver identified as Malveaux. While speaking with Malveaux the deputy observed an open bottle of vodka in the vehicle. Malveaux was released on a summons to appear in court June 12.
—Louis Williams Jr., 40, of Lloyd Lane in Morgan City, was arrested Saturday on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving while intoxicated. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on La. 182. During the stop, the deputy made contact with Williams and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Williams was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Christopher Lee Grogan, 22, of Arizona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:12 a.m. Sunday for resisting an officer and on warrants from state police for flight from officer, traffic control signal, and possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance.
Officers responded to a call of a disturbance at the Waffle House in Morgan City. Grogan, who was reported to be involved in the disturbance attempted to flee on foot and was apprehended a short time later after a brief chase and struggle, the report stated. Grogan is still being held.
—Sheila C. Mouton, 44, of Oak Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:23 a.m. Sunday at her residence on warrants for failure to pay a probation fee and a probation violation.
Officers responded to a call of a disturbance and encountered Mouton. Officers did a warrants check and warrants were discovered. Mouton was taken to jail and is still being held.
—Sonia Evens Haire, 37, of Stubbs Ritchie Road in Monroe, was arrested at 12:40 p.m. Sunday for possession of marijuana first offense.
—Lee Ann Henning, 31, of La. 34 in West Monroe, was arrested at 12:38 p.m. Sunday for illegal possession of a Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance..
Both were taken to jail and held.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Daniel Bullock, 20, of Chirpy’s Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 11:09 p.m. Saturday for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and possession of a legend drug without a prescription. Bullock is still being held and awaiting bail.
—Cassie Belknap, 21, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery. Belknap is still being held and is awaiting bail.
—Jonathan Weber, 23, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery. Weber is still being held and is awaiting bail.
—Jody Cubbege, 54, of California Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. Sunday for three counts of simple battery. Bail is set at $750.
