Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Sunday for the Adullam Household of Faith. Adullam is a children’s home being constructed at 200 Enterprise Ave., in Patterson by Bethel Pentecostal Fellowship for the children of incarcerated parents. In the state of Louisiana, if a woman has a child while she is in prison and there is no one willing to assume temporary custody, the child becomes a ward of the state. There currently are more than 700 children in the state who are in this situation. There are only two similar facilities in the country, in Alabama and Kentucky. Adullam is being built and financed solely through faith-based contributions of money, time, materials and labor. The groundbreaking was for the first dormitory that will hold approximately 25 infants and toddlers.
