Staff Report

Veteran journalist Harlan Kirgan has been named managing editor of The Daily Review by Allan Von Werder, publisher and editor.

Von Werder announced the appointment to The Daily Review staff Wednesday.

Kirgan is coming to The Daily Review from The Mississippi Press of Pascagoula, Miss., where he has served as a staff reporter and executive editor.

The new managing editor also has served as editor at The Eunice News and executive editor at the Daily World in Opelousas.

“Harlan brings a wealth of experience and a degree from one of the finest journalism schools in the country. He was anxious to come back to Louisiana and I’m sure the community will be happy he chose our area,” Von Werder said.

“I’m excited to join The Daily Review staff and look forward to working with them to serve the community,” Kirgan said. “The Daily Review has a history of strong community coverage and the staff is obviously committed to continuing that dedicated service.”

The newspaper business has changed dramatically in recent years, but the basics are the same in providing community news, he said.

“I look forward to meeting people here and telling their stories through The Daily Review,” he said.

Kirgan is a native of Missouri and a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
