MCHS sweeps South Lafourche

The Morgan City boys and girls soccer teams both won on Wednesday against South Lafourche.

The Lady Tigers won by an impressive 8-0 shutout with Celeste Williams scoring a hat trick with three goals, Carmen Araujo and Shannon Theriot each scored twice and Ashley Rock added a goal. Araujo, Williams, Theriot, Erin Reynaud and Sarah Patterson all had assists in the win.

The Lady Tigers will compete in the Hahnville tournament this weekend.

MCHS’ boys also won, but it was closer at 2-1.

The Tarpons goalie was worked over at the goal with the Tigers applying steady pressure throughout the game.

Sergize Flores and Jose Zuniga scored for MCHS and the Tarpons’ lone goal came on a Tigers mistake.

“The one goal they got was a simple mistake on our part, it shouldn’t have happened,” MCHS coach Jorge Hernandez said. “We were caught sleeping.”

The Tigers will compete in the Copa tournament this weekend.
