The Colonels (1-0-1) started out the season on a high note by blanking Spring Hill 5-0 to record their first season-opening win since 2008.
Freshman Kristy Tatom had an impressive debut against the Badgers, scoring two goals while also dishing out two assists. After the first weekend of play, Tatom is currently tied for first in the Southland Conference with six points.
On Sunday against ULM, sophomore Alexandra Marino scored her first goal of the season to give the Colonels an early lead, but the Warhawks knotted the score at 1-1 en route to a double overtime draw.
Senior goalkeeper Molly Mersereau is currently tied for first in the SLC with a .800 save percentage. After stopping the only shot on goal against SHC, Mersereau had three saves on Sunday against ULM.
Lipscomb (0-1-1) will be vying for its first win of the early season after tying Arkansas State 1-1 in its opener, thanks to a penalty kick goal from senior Meghan McGuire. On Sunday, the Lady Bisons dropped a 1-0 decision to the SLC’s Central Arkansas.
Lipscomb’s game against Nicholls will be the first matchup in the programs’ histories, and will complete a three-game homestand for the Lady Bison.
