Central Catholic finished in second place in Division Gray at the H.L. Bourgeois Tournament in Gray.
The Lady Eagles recorded a 4-2 record in the tournament with both losses coming to Fontainbleau, the defending Class 5A state champion who beat the Lady Eagles in the finals as well as earlier Saturday.
In the finals, the Lady Ea-gles fell 25-20, 25-22.
Meo Knight led the Lady Eagles with six kills, four digs, four solo blocks and two block assists, while Caroline Byrne had a kill, 17 assists, one ace and one dig. Other Lady Eagle contributors included Celine Flores, four kills, one ace and three digs, while Gee Garrett had four kills, two solo blocks and two block assists.
The Lady Eagles advanced to the finals with a 25-15, 25-18 victory against E.D. White in the semifinals.
Brie Hill had six kills, one ace, three digs and three solo blocks, while Byrne added one kill, 19 assists, three aces and two digs. Other Lady Eagle contributors included Flores, seven kills, four digs and a block assist; Knight, seven kills and three digs; and Garrett, one kill and five solo blocks.
Earlier in the day, the La-dy Eagles defeated Vandebilt Catholic, 25-23, 25-16 and fell to Fountainbleau, 26-24, 25-21.
Against Vandebilt, Knight recorded 10 kills, a solo block and a block assist, while Garrett recorded six kills, six solo blocks and an assist. Other Lady Eagle contributors included Byrne, a kill, an ace and a dig as well as 21 assists; Flores, two kills, three aces and five digs; and Hill, four kills, an ace and two solo blocks.
In the initial loss to Foun-tainbleau, Hill had seven kills and seven solo blocks, while Knight had seven kills, two solo blocks and a block assist and Byrne had 18 assists and seven digs. Other contributors included Flores, six kills and four digs; Garrett, three kills, an assist, three solo blocks and a block assist; and Amanda Barron, three assists, a dig, a solo block and a block assist.
On Thursday, the Lady Eagles picked up wins against Central Lafourche (25-5, 25-18) and Destrehan (25-15, 25-12).
Against Central Lafourche, Hill recorded seven kills, two aces, four digs and seven solo blocks, while Bergeron had seven aces and five digs. Flores had six kills and five digs, while Byrne had a kill, eight assists, two aces and two digs.
Against Destrehan, Byrne had 19 assists, an ace and five digs, while Flores had seven kills, five digs and a solo block. Other contributors included Hill, 10 kills, two digs and two solo blocks and Knight, six kills and three digs.
Patterson defeated High-land Baptist 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-16) on the road in a makeup game of the Lum-berjills’ season opener, which was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac.
Statistical leaders for Pat-terson were: Carissa Fon-tenot, three points, five aces, two kills and 15 assists; Kailyn Johnson, two points, two aces, three digs and three kills; Caitlyn Fontenot, seven points, two aces, one dig, nine kills and two assists; Rebecca Taylor, six points, three aces and two kills; and Courtnie Boudreaux, nine points, one ace and three kills.
Morgan City splits
Morgan City High School split its matches Thursday with a loss to H.L. Bourgeois followed by a win against St. Martin’s, both at the H.L. Bourgeois Tournament in Gray.
Against HLB, Jaiveianna Jones led the way with 11 digs and two kills, while Marilynn Bailey added 12 digs and a kill. Other MCHS contributors included Katelyn Adams, a kill, five assists, five digs and an ace; and Kloé Liner, two kills and nine digs.
Against St. Martin’s (score not available), the Lady Tigers were led by Bailey with 23 digs, an ace and an assist; Brandi Ingram added 12 digs and a kill; and Savannah Loupe had 12 digs. Other contributors included Jones, five kills, five digs and an ace; Adams, two kills, seven digs, two aces and an assist; and Tyler Hebert, four aces, four digs and two kills.
In other action, the Lady Tigers fell to E.D. White in non-district play on Wednes-day.
The varsity lost 25-18, 25-20, 25-10.
Jones led the Lady Tigers with three aces, 10 kills, three blocks, three block assists and 12 digs, while Adams recorded five digs, four kills, a block, a block assist and 12 assists.
Bailey added six digs, a kill and a block assist in the loss.
In junior varsity play, the Lady Tigers fell 25-21, 25-15.
Ingram led the Lady Tigers with a kill and eight digs, while LeeAnne Price added six digs and an ace.
The Morgan City freshman squad also fell 25-6, 25-8.
