Lady Hornets nip CHS Lady Bulldogs

CENTERVILLE — J’Ashalaya Bowers and Dalyn Jones combined for 31 points, leading the Franklin Lady Hornets to a 47-44 win over the Centerville Lady Bulldogs here Tuesday at the CHS Gym.

Franklin raced outfront by a 14-5 first quarter lead before the Lady Bulldogs went on an 11-4 run in the second quarter to close the gap to 18-16 at the half. The Lady Hornets outpointed Centerville by a 14-9 third quarter margin for a 32-27 advantage. Centerville benefited from a 19-15 fourth quarter rally before falling to the Franklin Lady Hornets by a 47-44 score.

Bowers tossed in a team-high 16 points on six field goals, including one trey, along with 4 for 4 free throws. Jones pumped in 15 points, hitting on six field goals and 3 of 7 free throws. Fabian Small fired in nine points while Anjah Jolivette tallied four and Faith Lyons finished with two.

Kya Nerve poured in a game-high 20 points on four treys, a pair of deuces, along with 4 of 8 free throws to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Summar White also scored in double digits with 14 points on two deuces and 10 of 12 free throws. Dariel Delasbour tallied six points while Savannah Thibodeaux tossed in four for the Lady Bulldogs.

The Franklin Lady Hornets and the Centerville Lady Bulldogs will meet again today in Game 1 of the Hanson Holiday Classic at 3:30 p.m. at the Billy Gene Talbot Gym.
