The Berwick Lady Panther Classic will kickoff today with a game each at Berwick High School and the Berwick Civic Complex.
Along with host Berwick (2011 Class 3A state semifinalists), the tournament will feature three traditional softball powers, Teurlings Catholic (2011 Class 4A state runner-up), Vandebilt Catholic (2011 Class 4A state semifinalist) and Catholic High of New Iberia (2011 Class 3A state champion).
“The fans are going to be treated to some very good softball this weekend,” Berwick coach Lloyd Burchfield said. “It will be a real challenge for us.”
Action begins today at 3:30 p.m. at BHS when the Lady Panthers take on Teurlings.
At the same time across La. 182 at the BCC, Vandebilt will play Catholic High-New Iberia.
On Saturday, all games will be held at BHS, beginning at 9 a.m. when Berwick takes on Vandebilt. At 11 a.m., CHNI and Teurlings will meet followed by a 1 p.m. meeting between Vandebilt and Teurlings and a 3 p.m. finale between Berwick and CHNI.
If Saturday’s 3 p.m. matchup can’t be finished because of darkness, it will be played at the Berwick Civic Complex.
