Landmarks tours this weekend

Ruth Allen Bernard of Franklin stands before a portrait of Caroline Elizabeth Thompson, whom she will represent during tours of Shadowlawn house Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bernard is related to Caroline Elizabeth Thompson through the Berwick family that owned Shadowlawn for a time. The portrait is circa 1845-50. There will be other personifications of figures from history during the tour by St. Mary Landmarks Society from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, Saturday and Sunday there will be a preview tour of a collection of photographs by Fonville Winans at Grevemberg House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Cyril Vetter’s book on Winans and his work will also be on sale and the Tavern Gift Shop will be open. Admission is $5 for each event.
