The St. Mary Parish Levee District will hold its monthly meeting today at 6 p.m. at Patterson City Hall.

Among the agenda items are an update on the Bayou Chene closure removal from T. Baker Smith officials and discussion on the design of a permanent structure in Bayou Chene.

The board also anticipates reports from Miller Engineers/Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure on the status of the Franklin Canal closure/permanent structure and Hanson Canal and Yellow Bayou closure designs.

The board will consider discussion of the modification and removal of flood structures and permits and Franklin Canal closure structure agreements with the Louisiana Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration and facility planning and control, too.

The board also will hear from board member J.P. Hebert about a permit/letter of no objections and from board member Norris Crappell about maintenance of the district’s levees.

Under old business, the board will discuss Levee Corporation of America proposals for operation and maintenance, discuss the establishment of an office including purchase of a vehicle and insurance coverage, and discuss tree removal along levees.

The meeting, which will be held in the Council Meeting Room at 1314 Main St., is open to the public.
