MORGAN CITY, La. — Streets in the Tri-City area are being trimmed with Christmas decorations in anticipation of lighting ceremonies that begin Thanksgiving night.

In Morgan City, the annual lighting ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Spirit of Morgan City shrimp boat on Brashear Avenue.

The event will feature singing, candy and a visit from Santa Claus.

Santa will be busy that evening as he will also make an appearance across the river in Berwick as well.

A winter wonderland will be set up under the U.S. 90 bridge near Town Hall where the celebration will occur.

Santa is scheduled to arrive on a special sleigh at 6 p.m. He will be available to hear the Christmas wishes of local children, and refreshments will be served.

The Patterson Christmas Lighting Ceremony will be at 5 p.m. Nov. 25. The Christmas tree will be lit in the parking lot at City Hall. Bethel Pentecostal will provide music with more than 75 singers.
