Local 8-, 10- and 12-year-old all-stars will participate in biddy basketball action this weekend.
In Patterson, the District III championship will be held for 8-year-old boys on Saturday and Sunday at Patterson Junior High School
Morgan City, Franklin and Patterson are among those participating.
Action will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with Franklin and Morgan City squaring off.
The winner will face Patterson Saturday at 11:20 a.m.
In the other first round game Saturday, Vermilion will face Opelousas at 10:10 a.m.
Tournament play in the winner and loser’s brackets will continue Saturday and Sunday with the championship game set for Sunday afternoon.
The first place team will advance to the Regional I Championship, while the second and third place teams will advance to the Regional II Championship.
In Houma, the Morgan City and Patterson 10s will participate in the Terrebonne Parish 10-year-old Invitational Tournament, while the Morgan City and Patterson 12-year-old squads will participate in the Terrebonne Parish 12-year-old Invitational Tournament. Local teams will compete in both tournaments Saturday and Sunday.
The 10s action will be held at Lisa Park Gym, while the 12-year-old action will be held at West Houma gym.
Morgan City is in a pool with Mandeville and Slidell (Blue), while Patterson is in a pool with St. James West and St. Charles.
Patterson will play at 3 p.m. Saturday against St. James West and again at 7 p.m. against St. Charles.
Morgan City will take the court at 9 a.m. Saturday against Slidell (Blue) and again at 2 p.m. against Mandeville.
On Sunday, teams from different brackets will square off with each other, beginning at 8 a.m.
The championship game is set for 2 p.m. Sunday.
In 12-year-old action, Morgan City and Patterson were placed in the same pool along with St. James West and Slidell.
Patterson will begin tournament action at 9 a.m. Saturday against Slidell and will play again at noon against St. James West and again Sunday against Morgan City at 3 p.m.
Morgan City also will square off against Slidell Saturday at 11 a .m. and again at 3 p.m. Saturday against St. James West.
After pool play concludes, play among the different pools will begin, with the championship game set for 5:15 p.m.
