
THE MORGAN CITY boys’ and girls’ bowling squads placed second and third, respectively, at the 2012 Coca-Cola High School Invitational on Saturday at the Baton Rouge River Center. The Morgan City boys bowled a high game of 224 in the championship round. On the top row are boys’ team members Stephen Francis, Shawn Francis, Taylor Brocato, Chandler Delaune, Leo Gros, Austin Courtney and Ryan Veillion. On the bottom row are girls’ team members Sarah Colgin, Caroline Owens, Jennifer Vu, Erika Cronier and Skyla Boudreaux.
The boys’ squad finished with a score of 807, second to Archbishop Rummel, who recorded an 820 total, while the girls finished third with a 569, behind Lafayette High School (786) and St. Louis Catholic (588).
Central Catholic’s girls also placed seventh with a score of 543.
The three squads were among 43 varsity teams statewide that participated in the event at the Baton Rouge River Center, the third time a high school bowling tournament has been held in the U.S. Bowling Congress Open Championships venue.
In the championship round of five games, Morgan City scored the highest game with a 224 total.
Morgan City and Berwick competed at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City on Wednesday. Look for results in Friday’s newspaper.
