Local drug arrests made

Parish narcotics agents arrested Nicole Aucoin, 20, of Chestnut St., Morgan City, and Jennifer Beecher, 27, of Beadle St., Amelia, Thursday at 4:58 p.m. for possession of marijuana, with Beecher also being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Agents received information of illegal narcotics activity at 190 Beadle St. in Amelia, made contact with suspects at the residence and conducted an investigation. Agents received consent to search and located marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Sheriff Mark Hebert said. After investigation, suspects were placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on July 11.

Rose Banks, 56, of Ramos Street, Morgan City, was arrested by a deputy Thursday at 10:40 p.m. for theft. The deputy was investigating a theft of tires and rims complaint, when Banks was developed as a suspect, Hebert said.

The deputy made contact with suspect and, after investigation, Banks was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.

Also arrested Thursday were:

—Nicole M. Sanders, 26, of Aucoin St., Morgan City, at 10:27 a.m. on Lenny Lane in Amelia on two warrants for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. Booked into the parish jail with a $2,000 bond and was later released.

—Lonnie R. Baker Jr., 20, of Martin Luther King Boulevard, Franklin, at 3:22 p.m. in Bayou Vista on a warrant for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family. Booked into the parish jail with a $3,402 bond at this time.
