Long-time legislator becomes top aide to Insurance commissioner

BATON ROUGE – Cotton farmer Noble Ellington, but more notably a 24-year legislator, looking for a job, is the new chief deputy insurance commissioner.

Commissioner Jim Donelon said Ellington will make $150,000 for bringing “his wealth of experience” to the department.

Ellington, 69, of Winnsboro had Insuraance Committee experience while in the Legislature and was a lawmaker during the terms of five governors, beginning with Edwin Edwards’ second administration through Bobby Jindal.
