Lumberjacks Invite begins Thursday

PATTERSON — Patterson High School’s annual Lumberjack Invitational will begin Thursday.

The tournament field includes three local squads, host Patterson as well as Berwick and Central Catholic.

Berwick will play first among locals when it takes the floor at 5:15 p.m. Thursday for a matchup with St. Martinville, while Central Catholic will play at 6:30 p.m. against J.S. Clark.

Patterson will meet Loreauville in the nightcap at 7:45 p.m.

In other first-round action, New Iberia will meet Houma Christian at 4 p.m. in the tournament opener.

Winner and elimination bracket play action will continue Friday as the winner of the New Iberia-Houma Christian matchup will face the winner of the J.S. Clark-Central Catholic game at 6:30 p.m.

The two losers from those first-round games will play immediately beforehand at 5:15 p.m.

At 7:45 p.m. Friday, the winner of the St. Martinville-Berwick matchup will play the winner of the Loreauville-Patterson game, while at 4 p.m. Friday, the losers from these two first-round matchups will play.

The tournament will conclude Saturday with the consolation finals at 11 a.m., followed by the third-place game at 12:15 p.m. and the championship at 1:30 p.m.
