Miss Mable Phillips, 79, a resident of Charenton and native of Pleasant Hill, La., died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at 9:30 p.m., at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia following a short illness.

She is survived by one son, Larry D. Phillips Sr. and wife, Wilmetta, of Jeanerette; one daughter, Dena M. Phillips of Baldwin; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Miss Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four sisters and five brothers.

Visitations will be observed at St. John Baptist Church in Charenton Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Burial rites will be read Saturday, at 11 a.m., at that church, with the Rev. Ivory Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery in Charenton.

The Otis Mortuary of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
