MCHS boys, BHS girls clinch district bowling titles

With a week left in the bowling regular season, the Morgan City High School boys and the Berwick High School girls have clinched district titles.

Morgan City’s boys are 10-1 on the season, while Berwick’s girls are 7-3 overall.

Both teams won their matches this week as the Berwick girls went 2-0 with a 22-5 win against Morgan City on Wednesday and a 20-7 victory against Central Catholic on Monday, both in action played at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City.

Morgan City’s boys also defeated Berwick High School, 18-9, on Wednesday.

Against Morgan City, Berwick’s Elle Arcemont recorded games of 171 and 182 and a 480 game series, while Mikayla Allen bowled a 141 game and Katie Chandler scored a 171 game.

For Morgan City, Skyla Boudreaux bowled a 140 game and a 372 series.

With the loss, Morgan City’s girls fell to 5-5 overall.

On Monday against Central Catholic, Berwick’s Allen recorded a 154 game and a 407 series, while Central Catholic’s Jada Pennison recorded scores of 165 and 143 and a series of 435, and Alex Aucoin bowled a 144 game and a 394 series.

With the loss, CCHS fell to 3-9 overall.

With Morgan City boys’ defeat of Berwick, Morgan City’s Chandler Delaune recorded a 678 high series, while Lang Bui recorded a 638 series. Delaune also recorded individual scores of 231 and 275, while Bui recorded 225 and 232 high games. Taylor Brocota bowled a 224 game, while Ryan Veillion bowled a 212.

In the win, Delaune bowled nine strikes in a row.

For Berwick, Paul Reed recorded a high series of 667 and bowled individual games of 201 and 212, while Devon Quick recorded scores of 236 and 246.

With the loss, Berwick’s boys fell to 7-4.

Also on Monday, Berwick’s boys defeated Central Catholic, 24-3.

In the win, Reed recorded a high series of 570 and individual games of 200 and 213, while Carl Reed bowled a 233 game and Chance Fraley recorded a score of 201.

For Central Catholic, Jacob Pennison recorded a 526 series and a 213 game.

With the loss, CCHS fell to 0-11.

On Monday, Morgan City’s boys and girls will meet the CCHS teams for a match at 3:40 p.m. at Charlie’s Lanes, while on Thursday, Berwick’s boys and girls will meet South Lafourche at 3:40 p.m. at Charlie’s Lanes.
