The Morgan City girls’ soccer team defeated South Terrebonne, 3-0, Thursday.

In the victory, Sarah Patterson, Celeste Williams and Carmen Araujo all scored goals.

In the boys’ contest, Morgan City fell to South Terrebonne, 1-0, with South Terrebonne scoring the game’s lone goal in the first half.

Despite the loss, Patterson said his squad “dominated” the game.

Prior to the boys’ contest, Morgan City’s senior soccer players on both the boys’ and girls’ squads were honored. Seniors include Adam Lacy, Tyler Jones, David Tran, Carmen Araujo, Jennifer Nguyen and Ashley Rock.

Both teams will return to action today when they travel to Vandebilt Catholic for district action. Boys’ action is set for 5 p.m., with girls’ action set to follow.

The Morgan City boys also have a makeup game of an earlier rainout of its home contest against Vandebilt Catholic. That game is set for Monday.

To make the playoffs, Morgan City must win its final two district games, Patterson said.
