Pink ribbons on fences and in hair. Pink baselines and bases. Pink ribbons on the field. Pink jerseys.
With all the pink at the ballpark on Saturday, it’s safe to say the Morgan City High School softball team got the message across that Saturday’s game was a special one as they hosted Zachary High School in a doubleheader that was doubled as a fundraiser to help raise money for St. Mary Parish breast cancer patients’ medical costs.
Morgan City resident and breast cancer survivor Paula Persilver threw out the ceremonial first pitch during the first game, a 12-2 victory by Morgan City.
In the second game, however, the Lady Tigers fell, 7-2.
In the first game, Katelyn Adams led Morgan City at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, five RBI, two runs and a stolen base, while Amber Bailey added a 2-for-3 performance with a double, two stolen bases, a walk and three runs.
