Eldred Johnson, 17, of Morgan City, returned a book to the school library, and when the librarian checked the inside of the book, the marijuana was discovered, Chief Marc Folse said. Officers were called to MCHS where they arrested Johnson at 10:14 a.m. Johnson later posted a bond of $682 and was released.
Carolann Vazquez, 23, of Franklin was arrested at 1:57 a.m. today and charged with simple battery and remaining after forbidden after assaulting a bartender at the Rathskeller Lounge. Bar employees reportedly told Vazquez several times to leave because she was trying to start a fight, Folse said. When a bartender attempted to escort her out, she reportedly struck the bartender. She was booked into the parish jail and later released on $1,014 bond.
Two additional arrests were made by MCPD in the last two days.
—Michael Gonzales, 24, of Morgan City, arrested for contempt of court. Incarcerated with a $1,000 bond.
—Josh Lockett, 30, of Baptiste Street, Baldwin, arrested on a bench warrant for failure to appear and failure to pay fine on charges of theft by shoplifting and disturbing the peace. Still incarcerated with no bond determined.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests overnight.
—Dora A. Jackson, 52, of Hwy. 83, Franklin, was arrested at the scene of a wreck in Amelia on Thursday at 7:19 a.m. for no motor vehicle insurance. Issued summons to appear in court on Aug. 17.
—Joyaunte Dugar, 23, of Garber Street, Morgan City, arrested Thursday at 7:56 a.m. in a school zone in Bayou Vista for driving under suspension, general speed law, and a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of failure to use seatbelt and expired license plate. Booked into the parish jail with a $304.50 cash bond and later released.
—Mark Derouen, 27, of Tower Tank Road, Morgan City, arrested Thursday at 12:27 p.m. on four warrants for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family. Transported to the Morgan City Sheriff’s Office, where he was placed under arrest on warrants and booked into the parish jail with an $18,420.05 bond.
