Central Catholic’s boys basketball team kicked off its last season at the Matchbox Tuesday with an 82-18 win over Berwick.

The Eagles (3-1) had 11 different players score in the win with Dontrell Brown leading the way with 17 points, five steals, six rebounds and three assists; Lloyd Grogan had 13 points, two steals, two assists and seven steals; Tyler Hoffpauir had 15 points, three steals, two assists, six rebounds and he shot 70 percent from the field; and Lamar Grogan led the team with eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocked shots.

Berwick (0-9) was led by Chaz Russo, Devin Tabor and Joe Francois with four points each.

The Panthers will travel to Ascension Episcopal (6-2) on Friday and CCHS heads to Loreauville (1-4) on Monday.

Tigers storm back to beat Hornets

Morgan City’s boys basketball team got off to a slow start Tuesday against Franklin (2-5).

The Tigers trailed 15-7 after the first quarter and they were down 24-17 at halftime.

MCHS cut the lead to 40-38 to start the fourth quarter and allowed just four points in the final quarter to take a 54-44 win.

Tyrin Watts led the team with 18 points and 14 rebounds; Jalen Johnson had 18 points; Malcolm Watkins and Jaylen Jones each had six points; and Carl Singleton, Eric Walker and Zach Mink had two points each.

Morgan City (5-2) will host Plaquemines (8-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
