Melvin Fields, 55, a resident of Patterson and a native of Baldwin, died Thursday, August 23, 2012, at 5:01 p.m., at his residence.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, at St. Luke Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Rev. Joseph Fields and Rosa Lee Fields of Verdunville; his wife, Sylvia M. Fields of Patterson; one daughter, Dyesha D. Fields of Patterson; four brothers, Wilfred Fields, Vernon Fields, Lionel Fields and Michael Fields; four sisters, Cynthia Fleming, Shelia Jones, Pamela Randle and Debra Thomas; two grandchildren, Mariah G. Fields and Chandler J. Fields; and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Fields was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Fields; and a sister, Brenda Ely.
