—Ludin Garcia, 18, of Bailey’s Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday for improper lane usage, operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents.
A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed a vehicle traveling on the shoulder of Lake Palourde Road and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver identified as Garcia. Garcia provided the deputy with a Texas identification card. The deputy checked the card and found that it was not on file. After further investigation, Garcia was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Mark Rentrop Jr., 21, of La. 662 in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday on warrants for possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and probation violation. Rentrop was taken to jail and held with bail set at $1,500.
—Davin Bates, 44, of West Bates Road in Hammond, was arrested at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods ($41.07).
Police received a call to go to Cannata’s Food World for the report of a shoplifter. Upon arrival, they spoke with the manager who advised that Bates was observed stuffing two packs of ribeye steaks into his pants, the report stated. He was detained as he attempted to leave the store. He was taken to jail and held with bail set at $492.
—Abel Ortiz, 35, of Leona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday for domestic abuse battery. Ortiz was taken to jail and held with no bail set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
