St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported that his office received an ATV running into a train.
Hebert said Rusty Sonnier, 27, was riding on L&B Lane, heading south, and ran into a BNSF railroad train moving east.
The St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office was called in and Sonnier was pronounced dead.
An investigation is continuing.
