Skyler Delaune, 28, was traveling east on La. 182 at 10:20 p.m., when he ran off the right side of the road and entered the south ditch.
His vehicle struck two culverts before overturning, according to State Police Troop I Public Information Officer Stephen Hammons.
Delaune was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, sustaining critical injuries, Hammons said.
He was transported by an Acadian Ambulance ground unit to Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City before being flown via Air Med to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
As with all critical or fatal accidents in Louisiana, blood has been drawn and toxicology results are pending. Hammons added charges are pending the toxicology results and the conclusion of the police investigation.
Delaune remained in critical condition this morning.
