Matte elected to LEPA office

The Louisiana Energy and Power Authority Board of Directors has announced its newly elected officers for 2012: Terrebonne Parish Director of Utilities Tom Bourg, chairman; Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland, vice chairman; and Morgan City Mayor Tim Matte, secretary-treasurer.

Bourg has held the director of utilities position in Houma since 1987. Copeland will begin his sixth term as Vidalia mayor on July 1, and Matte is in his fourth term as Morgan City mayor.

Bourg previously served as LEPA Chairman in 2008. Copeland was chairman in 1996, 1997 and 2007. Matte held the chairman position in both 1993 and 2009.

LEPA is a joint-action agency, consisting of 18 member municipalities in Louisiana, that works to provide stable, reliable and economical supplies of electric power and energy for participating municipalities and their customers.
