Mayor to utility customers: Pay up or do without

BASILE – Mayor Berline Boone has had enough of utility customers who don't pay their bills on time and says there'll be no more extensions.

In a statement this week, Boone advised customers that their water and gas bills are due on receipt and become delinquent on the 19th of the month.

"The late fee is added to your bill and five days later, if there is no payment, we disconnect," Boone said.

"This is final and no extensions will be given to anyone.

"So, please do not call with a sad story because that will no longer work," the mayor advised customers.

This is sad to have a mayor like this. I dont live there but would move if I did. I agree on people paying their bills but times are hard right now and getting harder with utility companys charging outragious prices including town water bills but people deserves an extension but not the same people every month. Not everyone is a elected official draining the towns money and its hard to survive. The real problem is by them not paying they are probably taking money from him cause thats less he can pocket

No more free rides!!!!! Got to do what you got to do...the town has bills to pay also...on another note, i wonder how many of these households have beer, cigarettes, cellphones, big screen tv's, HD channels, etc....but yet cant pay the bills...looks like it time to get some priorities in line....
