Men arrested after drug deal suspected

Two men were arrested by St. Mary Parish detectives in Amelia after detectives observed a suspected drug transaction Thursday.

Ted Everidge, 53, of Broken Arrow, Okla., was arrested at 5:52 p.m. Thursday for driving under suspension and possession of crack cocaine.

Jovian Clark, 31, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 6:55 p.m. Thursday for resisting an officer by flight and criminal trespassing.

Detectives of the sheriff’s narcotics division patrolling Friendship Alley in Amelia observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction between two subjects, one driving a vehicle and the other on foot. As the vehicle began to pull away, detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver who was identified as Everidge. Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located crack cocaine, the report stated. The second subject observed in the transaction fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit through several yards, detectives apprehended the subject, who was identified as Clark. Both suspects were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set for Everidge. Clark was released on $1,500 bail.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:

—Maverick Marsh, 52, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 5:11 p.m. Thursday for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, and violation of a drug free zone.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives executed a search warrant at the address listed above which is located near the Amelia Recreation Center. During the search, detectives located crack cocaine, marijuana, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. Detectives also located a small child inside the residence along with Marsh. Marsh was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported no arrests.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
