The Arizona man reported missing from Morgan City Tuesday was found in Decatur, Ala., Wednesday alive and well.

Robert Poole, 83, drove himself there and stopped on a dead end road where police found him. He believed he was still in Louisiana. The elderly gentleman is believed to suffer from dementia but was uninjured after his trip, according to Franklin Police Lt. Tina Thibodaux.

Poole’s family had reported him missing. He had been a guest of the Comfort Inn & Suites in Franklin but had last been seen at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Morgan City before heading toward Raceland; Meridian, Miss.; and ultimately Decatur, Ala.

As of Wednesday evening, his wife was en route to Alabama to pick him up.
