Mitchell Slayden “Mitch” Gowan, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Jan. 29, 2013, in Morgan City at the age of 48.

Mitch was an easygoing man. He loved his family beyond any measure of the word. He was a devoted husband, father, son and friend. Mitch never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He enjoyed LSU and Saints football, and the Atlanta Braves.

Mitch is survived by his wife, Tonya Blanchard Gowan; his daughter, Carly Gowan; his parents, Gayle and Esther Gowan; two brothers, Mike Gowan and his wife, Lisa, and Mark Gowan and his wife, Julie; mother-in law, Mary Blanchard; brother-in-law, Todd Blanchard and his wife, Becky; sister-in-law, Tess, and her husband, Robert Van Hoy Sr.; sister-in-law (sister), Trina Blanchard; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mitch was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Carroll Blanchard.

Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Hargrave Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Mitch will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
