The Morgan City Adult/Junior Combo tennis tournament was held this past weekend at the city’s tennis courts.

The event, a U.S. Tennis Association sanctioned tournament, was the first time Morgan City hosted an adult and junior tournament.

In the girls’ 10’s singles competition, Gifford Courtney of Morgan City placed first as she defeated Ashley Daigle of Morgan City.

Courtney also placed second in the girls’ 12’s singles behind Maddie Osburn of Patterson. Osburn defeated Courtney and Daigle.

Emma Thomas of Morgan City placed second in the girls’ 14’s singles competition, while Harleigh Price of Morgan City placed third in that age group.

Kate Patterson of Berwick won the girls’ 16’s singles consolation by defeating Halley Boudreaux of Napoleonville, 6-0 and 7-5.

In boys’ competition, Conner Hebert of Morgan City defeated Gavin Wisdom of Morgan City, 6-3, 6-0, to win the 12’s singles finals, while Austin Leonard of Pierre Part defeated Zachary Osburn of Patterson, 6-4, 6-2, to win the 16’s singles finals.

In the 18’s singles finals, Easton Mabile of Napoleonville defeated Luca Grizzaffi of Morgan City, 6-4, 6-2.

In the 18’s doubles finals, Hunter Boudreaux and Julio Contreras, both of Houma, defeated Grizzaffi and Osburn.

In the men’s open singles division, Ben Boudreaux of Morgan City defeated Rolan Brown of Lafayette, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, while Chuck Broussard of Berwick won the men’s consolation by defeating Jarvis Tarleton of Patterson, 6-0, 6-0.

Lisa Carline of Morgan City and John Armato of Patterson won the mixed open doubles, while Erin Osburn and Craig Osburn of Patterson placed second.

E. Osburn of Patterson and Stacey Spitale of Berwick defeated Jennifer Reynolds of Stephensville and Joellen Fuhrer of Berwick in the finals of the women’s open doubles, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
