Morgan City High School finished its weekend with a 2-2 mark, including a 2-1 finish at the L.B. Landry Tournament Saturday and Sunday.

At the tournament, the Lady Tigers started off with consecutive wins Saturday against Cohen, 44-32, and Lake Area New Tech, 51-42, before falling Sunday to West Jefferson, 54-36.

On Friday, the Lady Tigers (2-3) dropped a game at Lutcher, 53-37.

In the Lutcher loss, Morgan City was neck-and-neck at the half as Lutcher led by just two, 22-20.

However, Lutcher outscored Morgan City, 15-4, in the third quarter en route to the win.

Against Cohen, Morgan City outscored its opponent in every quarter except the third when the teams put up eight points apiece.

Morgan City’s biggest quarters came in the second and fourth when they put up 13 points each while holding Cohen to nine points in the second quarter and seven in the fourth.

Against Lake Area New Tech, Morgan City outscored the opposition in the first three quarters and took a 44-32 lead into the fourth.

While Lake Area New Tech outscored the Lady Tigers 10-7 in the fourth, it wasn’t enough.

Against West Jefferson, the Lady Tigers were outscored 16-4 in the first quarter, and while they narrowed the deficit to five at the half, 27-22, West Jefferson outscored them in the third and fourth quarters for the win.

No individual statistics were available from any of the games.

The Lady Tigers will return to action Tuesday when they travel to face Opelousas for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
