A Morgan City man was arrested for burglary and involving teenage girls to act as lookouts, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco.

—Edward Giroir, 18, of Arkansas Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:38 p.m. Tuesday for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Officers were called to the 600 block of General Patton in reference to a caller having problems with his juvenile daughters associating with Giroir. The complainant had learned that Giroir had just committed a burglary at 1125 Chester Bowles, the report stated. The officers located Giroir walking on Sixth Street near General Patton and stopped and questioned him. He admitted to breaking into the residence by breaking a glass on a window and using a ladder to gain entry. He had taken loose change and several CDs and DVDs and all the items were recovered. The officers learned that Giroir had also given the juveniles cigarettes to act as lookouts, Blanco stated. He remains jailed with bail not set.

Also arrested by Morgan City police was Jermaine Keys, 37, of Tournament Boulevard, Berwick, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Keys was charged with warrants for failure to pay probation fees. He was located in City Court, advised of the warrant, arrested and later released on a $175 bail.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests overnight:

—Robert Salvador Rotolo, 36, of Rosemary Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:47 a.m. Tuesday on Victoria Riverside Road in Patterson for simple assault. A deputy responding to a complaint of a disturbance learned from witnesses that during an argument, Rotolo verbally abused the victim calling him names and wanting to fight him. He was released on a summons to appear in court.

—Mark Anthony Wesley, 17, of Easy Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:07 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart in Bayou Vista for theft. Store security alleges that Wesley was observed taking mobile phone cases. He was released on a summons to appear in court in January.

—Gregory Payne, 37, of Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for unauthorized use of a food stamp card. A deputy responding to a separate complaint came into contact with Payne and learned of the warrant for his arrest. The warrant stems from an investigation into a stolen SNAP card. The investigating deputy located surveillance footage of Payne using the card at a local store. Payne was transported to the parish jail and booked. He remains jailed with bail not set.

The Berwick Police Department reported that it made no arrests overnight, according to Chief James Richard.
