Morgan City man arrested for rape; two nabbed for assault

A Morgan City man stopped for a traffic violation was arrested on a rape warrant.

Carl A. Williams, 28, Beau Lane was charged at 2:04 p.m. Thursday on La. 182 near David Drive for red light violation, suspended drivers license and on the warrant for simple rape.

The warrant stems from a complaint made to the Morgan City Police Department on Feb. 26, where the victim filed charges on the suspect, Chief Marc Folse said.

Williams remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.

Friday, a local man walked into the casino on Victor II Boulevard wearing all black with a black ski mask, his hand in his pocket, and demanded money.

Anthony J. Jones, 30, local motel address listed, was charged at 11:53 p.m. Friday near Willard Street in Morgan City with simple robbery.

The clerk complied with his request, and the suspect fled the area on foot, Folse said. Officers received information on the direction the subject had fled and set up a perimeter in the area where they began a search. Jones was located hiding in a trash receptacle and the cash that had been taken in the robbery was recovered.

Jones was taken into custody and has no bond set.

Elsewhere, a pair of aggravated assaults were logged. An Amelia teen was arrested for aggravated assault after he chased another male into a home with a gun Saturday night.

Christopher J. Singleton, 17, of Friendship Lane was arrested at 11:43 p.m. for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, aggravated assault and simple battery.

A deputy was called to 115 Friendship Lane where he learned that the suspect chased the homeowner’s grandson into the residence, grabbed him around the head and held a gun on him. While conducting the investigation, the deputy was called to the Morgan City Sheriff’s Office in reference to the suspect being at the office, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

Singleton was booked into the Parish Jail where he remained this morning with no bond set.

In Morgan City, Leo Doré, 39, of Bush Street in Morgan City was charged at 1:57 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace, aggravated assault and resisting an officer.

At approximately 4 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of Bush Street where they learned that the above subject was yelling and screaming at his neighbors and, at one point, started placing items near their house stating he was going to burn their house down, Folse said.

When officers approached the suspect, he threw a bottle at one of them and ran into his house refusing to come out. Officers were eventually able to take suspect into custody at which time he was transported to a medical facility for evaluation. Upon his release, he was booked into the city jail with a bond set at $10,000.

Stephanie Stone, 37, of Parro Lane in Berwick was arrested Friday at 8:47 p.m. for second offense possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of drug-free zone (church, civic center and child day care center) and possession of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a juvenile.

Agents of the Narcotics Task Force received information of illegal narcotics activity at the above location. They made contact with Stone and received consent to search the residence where marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located, Hebert said.

She remained incarcerated this morning with no bond set.

Also arrested by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department in eastern St. Mary:

—Joseph D. Eusey, 34, of Hendricks Street, Patterson, Thursday at 4:49 p.m. for stop sign violation, possession of marijuana first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons to appear in court.

—Julius M. Chaisson, 47, of Southeast Boulevard, Bayou Vista, at 9:22 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Posted $250 bond and was released.

—Lindsey V. Ford, 27, of La. 307, Thibodaux, at 11:59 p.m. Thursday for simple criminal damage to property. Deputy was called to 3015 Fourth St. in Berwick in reference to damage to property that occurred in the Walmart parking lot. Issued a summons to appear in court.

—Byron Hidalgo, 55, of Julia Street, Amelia, at 8:21 p.m. Saturday for leash law violation. Issued a summons to appear in court.

—Brian J. Keeley, 38, of Spruce Street, Morgan City at 4:18 a.m. today for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Held in lieu of $250 bond.

—Tessie Cortez, 35, of Thibodaux at 5:19 p.m. Friday for first offense driving while intoxicated and improper lane use. Incarcerated with no bond set.

—Miguel Cerritos-Hernandez, 30, of West Side Park, Amelia, at 12:35 p.m. Friday for first offense DWI, no driver’s license and open container. Incarcerated with no bond set.

—Jonathan Charles, 31, of Grout Street, Patterson, at 12:03 a.m. Sunday for simple battery domestic violence. Incarcerated with no bond set.

—Timothy Gober, 41, of First Street, Patterson, at 10:51 p.m. Thursday for second offense DWI and speeding. Incarcerated with no bond set.

MCPD arrested:

—Edward D. Evans, 43, Lake Charles, at 3:41a.m. Friday on Warrant for City Court (Traffic), Warrant for St. Mary (Traffic) and Carrying Concealed Weapon by Convicted Felon. Incarcerated with no bond set.

—Gerson Perez, 24, Seventh Street, Morgan City, at 1:04 a.m. Friday for appearing in public intoxicated, open container and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents (Texas identification card). Incarcerated with no bond set.

— Martinez R. Delacruz, 41, Arkansas Street, Morgan City, at 7:59 p.m. Friday for DWI first offense, improper lane usage and no insurance. Booked with bond set at $1,048.

— Colby J. Gros, 24, Pecan Street, Morgan City at 3:06 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace.
