MORGAN CITY, La. -- A 36-year-old Morgan City man was arrested by Morgan City police Wednesday on warrants stemming from a March 19, 2012, incident where he allegedly fired 15 shots into a residence then fled the scene, according to Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco.

Ronell Hayes, 36, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday on warrants for illegal use of a weapon/dangerous instrumentalities, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and aggravated criminal damage to property

On March 19, officers were dispatched to Louisiana Street in Morgan City in reference to a shooting. During the investigation, officers learned that Hayes had fired 15 shots into a residence and then fled the scene. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Hayes was located in the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center and taken to the Morgan City Police Department. He was booked and transferred to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office and taken to jail. No bail has been set.
