Morgan City man arrested on drug charge

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Ashayla Hawkins, 28, of Chitimacha Trail in Baldwin, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. A deputy located Hawkins on the warrant at her residence. She was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013.

—Marsha Giroir, 27, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 1:28 a.m. today on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy came into contact with Giroir who was wanted on the warrant. She was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013.

—Michael Dewayne Thompson Jr., 18, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:19 p.m. Monday on Pecan Street in Morgan City on warrants for possession of synthetic cannabinoids and abuse of toxic vapors. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives came into contact with Thompson who was wanted on the active warrants. Thompson was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $3,000 bail.

—Elliott Broussard, 49, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 3:52 p.m. Monday on Brashear Avenue in Morgan City on warrants for possession of marijuana third offense and stop sign violation. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives patrolling the Morgan City area observed a vehicle run a stop sign and conducted a traffic stop, the report stated. During the investigation, detectives learned that Broussard was wanted on the warrants. Broussard was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.

—Kathryn Giroir, 50, of La. 182 East in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:12 a.m. Friday at her residence on warrants for nine counts of issuing worthless checks. She was released on a summons to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2013.

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported no arrests.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
