Max Lamar James Jr., 29, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule III (Lortab) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, three counts of possession of a legend drug without a prescription, obstruction of justice, violation of a drug-free zone, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family, the news release stated.
Detectives conducted a “no knock” search warrant at a residence on Orange Street in Morgan City. Upon arrival at the residence, detectives observed James attempt to dispose of illegal drugs, the report stated.
During the investigation, detectives located crack cocaine with a street value of about $800, Lortab and Xanax pills, pills categorized as legend drugs, marijuana, and a digital scale. Detectives also located a small child in the residence. The residence is a housing authority unit and, therefore, is a drug-free zone. James was taken to the parish jail and held.
