According to an MCPD release, Aaron Hebert Jr., 55, of Morgan City, was killed after he exited his 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck on the southbound shoulder of La. 70 near milepost 2.
He and his vehicle were struck by a 2006 Ford truck driven by Trent Gros, 27, of Stephensville.
Hebert was standing near the driver-side rear of his parked vehicle when the accident occurred. He suffered severe injuries.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office at 7 a.m.
As of press time, there was no word on whether or not Gros has been charged in the accident, which is being investigated by the Louisiana State Police due to the fatality.
