Morgan City police issue August report

MORGAN CITY, La. -- The Morgan City Police Department responded to 1,376 complaints in August, according to a police report.

Included in the complaints was the investigation of 48 traffic accidents.

The accidents involved three cases of driving while intoxicated, and resulted in 16 injuries and no fatalities.

Other charges levied during the month include:

Contempt of court, 1; criminal damage to property, 4; criminal trespass, 2; disturbing the peace, 26; driving while intoxicated, 5; fail to appear (bench warrant), 17; fail to return lease merchandise, 1; false imprisonment, 1; fraud, 1; hit and run, 3; holds for other departments, 25; identity theft, 1; illegal carrying of weapons, 4; narcotics law violation, 19; open container, 4; parole/probation violation, 11; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, 1; remaining where forbidden, 7; resisting an officer, 13; second-degree battery, 1; simple assault, 3; simple battery, 7; simple battery on an officer, 8; simple battery domestic, 3; theft misdemeanor, 2; theft felony, 5; theft by shoplifting, 4; violation of a protective court order, 2; and violation of traffic laws, 24.
