BOURG — The Morgan City boys’ and girls’ soccer teams picked up district victories on the road against Ellender Friday.
The boys won 4-2, while the girls’ squad was victorious, 10-0.
In the boys’ contest, Morgan City scored first in the eighth minute on a penalty kick by Sergize Flores.
Irving Delgado scored Morgan City’s second goal in the 38th minute for a 2-0 Morgan City advantage.
Ellender cut its deficit to 2-1 at the half.
In the second half, Ellender tied the contest with a penalty kick.
Morgan City got two goals in the half, one on a header by Tyler Jones in the 69th minute and another by Daniel Alvarado in the 83rd minute.
In the girls’ contest, seven different Lady Tigers scored, including a hat trick by Ashley Rock.
Rock scored the Lady Tigers’ first two goals as she was successful in the second minute with an assist from Carmen Araujo and again in the sixth minute after a free kick by Celeste Williams deflected off the goal.
Williams scored Morgan City’s next goal in the 17th minute, while Sarah Patterson scored the Lady Tigers’ fourth goal of the first half from 20 yards out in the 36th minute.
Abigail Esteban scored Morgan City’s fifth goal after Ellender’s goalie deflected the ball, while Araujo scored Morgan City’s sixth goal following a pass by Rock.
In the second half, Toups scored for the Lady Tigers in the 52nd minute, while a minute later, Rock recorded her hat trick with another goal.
In the 63rd minute, Jade Theriot scored for the Lady Tigers via a penalty kick following an Ellender handball, while Williams scored the game’s final goal via a pass from Lauren LeBlanc.
Both Morgan City squads will return to action Tuesday at home as they host E.D. White in district play. Girls’ action is set for a 5 p.m. start with boys to follow at 6:45 p.m.
