La. 70 traffic is once again periodically being diverted to Veterans Boulevard and Fig Street while National Guard troops work to clear away the sand barricades. The cleanup process is moving at a much faster pace than the placement process. Now that the threat of backwater flooding is past, the question lingering in the minds of many people is, what will be done with the many tons of sand used to protect the area?
